Update on Fundraiser

Well, we didn't raise much money with my Lia Sophia fundraiser. Only 2 orders. That's okay though! We have some time. We start the illustrations of the book in January. Michele has other pending projects due in December which gives me more time to reach my goal. So far out of pocket I've spent $600.00. I plan to pay the other $600 here in a few months to pay for part of the publishing. That doesn't include illustration costs, printing and marketing.

This is a HUGE leap of faith I'm taking with my book. I'm hoping it does well. Like any business, you take risks and only family and friends that believe in you will help. :) Thank you for everyone who has donated so far and believes in my and my wonderful book!! Spread the word!! We have so many great and cute ideas for this book I can't wait to share!!

We are at 18% of our Goal!!

We are getting a little bit closer each day to making our goal!  I know $1500 seems like a lot but that's actually half of what it costs to publish a book. Barry and I are funding the other half out of pocket. Marketing and illustrations is a BIG part of publishing a book. Printing books to hand out and use for marketing purposes is going to be another expense. Overall it could cost up to 5K total. I'm taking a risk, like any business in hopes my book will profit. I'm mostly publishing this book for sentimental purposes. A book my son can pass down to his kids.  A book my parents can show off and be proud of. A book that I can be proud of in achieving a goal and succeeding. Everyone wants to accomplish a goal. Provide a legacy or an accomplishment to look back on and say "Yeah, I wrote and published a Children's Book".  If the book becomes successful, even better. I can admit, it would be really fun to go to book signings, fairs, meet other authors, see my book in stores and read to kids in classrooms or bookstores. I would have a blast!  If this book does become successful, I may write more books and make this a side career. :)

Welcome

I want to welcome you to my blog for Daddy's Guitar.

I'm excited to share with my friends and family my goal to be a published author! I'm not looking to make this a career, but I'm looking to make this a fun adventure and accomplishment I can pass down to my son, family and friends. My desire is to see my book on store shelves, online and in local schools. I would love to share my book with young readers and express to kids at any age that you CAN make your dreams come true!

My book is titled "Daddy's Guitar". This is a fun 300 word picture book that tells the story of a young boy, around the age of 4, curious about the new sound he hears coming from down stairs. He finds his daddy sitting on the couch with his guitar. Excited about this new musical instrument, he want's to learn how to play. Daddy is more than happy to show his son all the way's you can strum a guitar to make different sounds. This book is based on a memory of my son and husband. :)

I'm currently working with Booklogix Publishing in Alpharetta, GA. and with a wonderful illustrator and dear friend Michelle Phillips to make accomplish this goal.

Please take part in this fun journey and make a donation to help publish my book! If you can't make a donation, please post a word or two of your support! ;)

With each donation of $10.00 or more, you will receive a signed copy of my book! Special donation amounts will get your name printed in my credits "Special Thank You" page located in the back of the book.

I plan to share all my updates and illustrations with you regarding the step by step process of publishing my book! Thank you for support in helping me reach this goal and be a part of this dream! I hope to reach my goal by November!!
